Brief CV |
Prof. Roshanak Ghods is an Associate Professor in the Department of Persian Medicine (PM) at the Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) in Tehran, Iran. She obtained her medical degree (MD) from Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 2001 and her Ph.D. in PM from IUMS in Tehran in 2014.
In 2014, Prof. Ghods qualified as an academic member and was soon selected to be the head of the Institute for Studies in Medical History, Persian, and Complementary Medicine at IUMS owing to her scientific and management capabilities. One year later she founded the faculty of Persian Medicine at IUMS. She has been a member of the Iranian Academy of Science, Hikmat, Islamic, and Traditional Medicine group since 2015. In 2018, she completed an intensive one-year MBA course; in 2021, she completed an intensive course in Chinese medicine, as well.
Prof. Ghods was academically promoted from assistant to associate professor in June 2020, becoming the first woman to reach this position among Persian Medicine departments and schools in Iran. Her achievements in her field have been recognized both nationally and internationally.
Prof. Ghods has over 14 years of experience in clinical research and has published and presented several national and international peer-reviewed articles related to PM. She supervises many postgraduate students in the completion of their thesis and has published several books. Her research interests include PM, cardiovascular diseases (hypertension and palpitation), diabetes, metabolic syndromes, wet cupping, leech therapy, and developing standard diagnostic tools (Pulse-gram and Uro-gram) in PM.
With her expertise in PM, Prof. Ghods is committed to advancing the field and improving patient care. She is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of researchers and practitioners in PM and promoting the integration of traditional medicine with modern healthcare practices.
She also has been selected to be an "Advisory Group Member of the first Global Summit of Traditional Medicine of the World Health Organization (WHO), since May 2023.
